Usability Testing
Usability Testing plays a critical role in helping to evaluate a site's design, layout, and user flow.
Ideally, usability testing should be conducted on the existing website (if applicable), and after the design phase, pre-launch, and post-launch of the new website. If the project has a limited budget and/or an aggressive schedule, usability testing needs to occur after the design phase and pre-launch.
Finding usability participants who fit the target audience for the site is key to gaining quallty feedback.
The list below identifies common usability tasks. Deliverables and industry links appear on the right.
- Conduct usability tests of current website to determine problems with the current user flow.
- Conduct usability tests to validate design using paper prototypes.
- Perform a pre-launch usability test using the site on a test server.
- Conduct a post-laucnh test to validate actual user flow and experience.
- Perform five-second usability test.
- Perform heuristic analysis of the live website.
- Report findings from online questionnaire on live site.
